BENGALURU: Aparna Vastarey, radio anchor, television presenter, actress and the voice behind Kannada announcements in Namma Metro coaches, passed away on Thursday evening. Sources said the 57-year-old was suffering from lung cancer and breathed her last at her residence in Banashankari. She is survived by her husband, architect and writer Nagaraj Vastarey.Hailing from Chikkamagaluru, Aparna made her cinematic debut in 1984 with acclaimed director Puttanna Kanagal’s last film ‘Masanada Hoovu’.Aparna acted in several award-winning films. Later in the early 1990s, Aparna began her career as both a radio jockey (RJ) at All India Radio and a hostess on Chandana, Doordarshan’s Kannada regional channel. Later, she became a presenter of AIR FM Rainbow.
