DA says urgent action is needed in food safety crisis

JOHANNESBURG – The DA is urging the Gauteng government to take urgent action, against non-compliant spaza shops and supermarkets.

WATCH: Discussion | Over 60% of SA households are food insecure – Survey

This comes after the deaths of five children in Soweto, after they allegedly consumed poisoned snacks, bought at a local spaza shop.

Since February this year, the Health Department has reported more than 200 cases of food poisoning, at schools across the province.

Sergio Isa Dos Santos speaks for the DA on Education in Gauteng and discussed this with eNCA.
