As many as 20 passengers of a private bus sustained injuries after it hit another vehicle on the Mumbai-Nashik highway near Ghoti in Maharashtra`s Nashik district on Monday evening, police said, reported news agency PTI.
The accident took place on the Mumbai-Nashik highway when the private bus was going towards Panvel in Navi Mumbai from Chalisgaon in Jalgaon district of north Maharashtra, an official said, reported PTI.
The driver lost control and the bus crashed into another vehicle on the Mumbai-Nashik highway. As many as 20 passengers of the private bus were injured in the accident and rushed to a local hospital for treatment, he added, reported PTI.
One dead, two injured as auto-rickshaw crashed into water tanker in Thane
In another incident, one person was killed and two others were seriously injured after an auto-rickshaw collided with a stationary water tanker in Maharashtra`s Thane city, officials said on Monday.
The incident occurred shortly before midnight on Sunday near Nitin Company-Cadbury Junction road, Thane Municipal Corporation`s disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said.
Three passengers got trapped in the auto-rickshaw after it collided with a water tanker, he said. Rescue teams were immediately mobilised.
The fire brigade personnel managed to extricate the three trapped passengers after about half an hour. They were taken to a government hospital where one of them, identified as Bablu, was declared dead, the official said.
The two others, aged 56 and 29, who suffered serious injuries, were referred to Sion Hospital in neighbouring Mumbai for advanced treatment, he said.
The accident caused a temporary disruption of traffic on the busy Eastern Express Highway stretch, but normalcy was restored after the damaged auto-rickshaw was removed.
Meanwhile, a man severely injured after being dashed by a car allegedly being driven by a inebriated woman on September 13 in Mumbai`s Ghatkopar area has died, a police official said on Monday, reported PTI.
The man, who is yet to be identified, died on Sunday night while undergoing treatment, the Ghatkopar police station official said.
The accident took place around 6.15 am near the Excel Arcade building on LBS Road, barely 200m from Ghatkopar police station. CCTV footage showed car driver Bhavika Dama (30) being helped by her friends and co-passengers Koram Bhanusali (30) and Aniket Bhansode to escape in an autorickshaw, the official said, reported PTI.
