A major water pipeline leakage was reported near Mantralaya on Madam Cama Road, Churchgate, on Friday morning, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The incident was first reported to the civic authorities at around 11.30 am by A Ward Control, with an official update issued at 12.50 pm Civic officials confirmed that a 600 mm water main had developed a leakage, resulting in damage to a 40-metre stretch of the road.
Following the incident, the water supply in the affected area has been shut down as a precautionary measure. The Water Works Department has deployed a team on site to carry out emergency repair work.
Assistant Engineer (Water Works) Ankita Dhopate informed that the restoration efforts are currently in progress.
Further updates on the completion of repair work and restoration of water supply are awaited from the civic body.
Fire breaks out in Goregaon building; no injuries reported
A fire broke out at a residential building in Goregaon on Wednesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
According to the civic body, the blaze originated in the common meter box of a G+5 residential building at Shalimar Building, Siddhi Ganesh Society, S V Road, Road No. 04, Goregaon (West).
The incident was reported at 12:18 PM by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB). A Level I fire was declared at 12:25 PM, and emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the site.
The operation involved BMC’s MFB, local police, BMC ward staff, Public Works Department (PWD), 108 Ambulance services, and Adani Electricity. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
Fire at food shop in Thane; no casualty
In another incident, a massive fire broke out at a popular eatery in Maharashtra`s Thane district on Tuesday morning, officials said, reported PTI.
There was no report of any casualty, they said.
The blaze erupted around 7 am at KGN Biryani Shop located in Lodha Palava on Shilphata Road in Kalyan area and quickly spread, gutting the premises, the fire officials said, reported PTI.
Residents noticed thick smoke while on their way to work and raised an alarm.
Personnel from the Dombivli fire department rushed to the spot and managed to douse the blaze within an hour, the officials said, reported PTI.
The wooden furniture, refrigerators and raw food materials inside the shop were destroyed, they said.
Traffic on the busy Shilphata Road was disrupted as vehicles were diverted, leading to temporary jams, reported PTI.
The cause of the fire was suspected to be a technical fault or short-circuit, but an investigation was underway, the officials said.
