TRICHY:

Trichy Railway Division

of Southern Railway has facilitated QR code enabled payment options for passengers at 94

railway stations

in its jurisdiction.
Using the

digital payment system

, passengers and accompanying non-travellers can book reserved and unreserved

tickets

and platform tickets.
Trichy railway division has 151 railway stations, of which 94 railway stations are covered in the initiative promoting digital payments.

Out of the 94 stations, passengers at 38 major railway stations can book all types of train tickets by using the QR code digital payment mode.

The QR code devices are strategically placed at both reserved and unreserved counters. Passengers using their mobile phones can scan the QR code displayed at the counters and complete the cashless transactions for purchasing tickets.
The system supports several digital payment platforms, including BHIM, Paytm, GPay, PhonePe, and various bank wallets.
“The QR code enabled payment option will help passengers book tickets instantly. It will ensure better queue management at ticket counters even during peak hours. The new option will prevent delay in obtaining tickets by tendering the exact change for the ticket cost,” a railway official said.

Major railway stations in the division, including Trichy, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai and Nagapattinam, are equipped the digital payment devices in addition to already existing automated ticket vending machines (ATVMs).
Minor railway stations, including Sendurai, Aduturai and Pandaravadai, are also covered.
