Naidu was speaking in the state assembly on Thursday (Jul 25) when Reddy is in the capital city of Delhi, holding an exhibition of photos and videos, depicting violence in the state post the elections
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu Jagan Mohan launched a scathing attack on his predecessor YS Jaganmohan Reddy by comparing him to Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar.
Naidu was addressing the state assembly on Thursday (Jul 25) while Reddy was in the Indian capital city of New Delhi, holding an exhibition of photos and videos depicting violence in the state post-elections.
“Pablo Escobar is a Colombian drug lord, he is a Narco terrorist. He turned politician and then started his cartel to sell drugs. He earned 30 billion dollars at that time, now it’s 90 billion dollars worth,” said Naidu.
“He was arrested in 1976 and in 1980 he became the richest drug lord in the world. One can become richer by selling drugs as well. What was the aim of the former chief minister (YS Jagan)? Tata, Reliance, and Ambani have money and he aspires to become richer than them. Few have needs, few have greed and few have mania and these maniacs do these kinds of things,” he added.
Naidu said the state had become the ‘ganja capital’ during Reddy’s five-year tenure where the drug was easily available in every village.
“Has the former chief minister addressed the issue even once during his tenure?”

Notably, this is not the first instance when Naidu has made such a comparison. While addressing a public gathering last year, he called Reddy the brother of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
“No one can continue to rule by simply threatening the people. Jagan is the “brother” of Kim Jong Un, Supreme Leader of North Korea,” said the Andhra Pradesh CM.

Naidu decimates Reddy
Reddy’s YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) was replaced by the Telugu Deasm Party (TDP) led NDA alliance in the state last month.
While TDP won 135 seats, its ally Jana Sena secured 21 seats with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) locking in eight seats to comfortably cross the majority mark of 88.
Afterwards, Naidu took oath as the CM for a fourth time, having last served between 2014-2019 when Telangana was carved out of the state.
TDP is currently an important part of the NDA as the BJP-led alliance has sought to maintain its majority in the Indian parliament. Notably, Andhra Pradesh received a lion’s share of funding from the central government in the Union Budget 2024.
