Haryana assembly polls | Watch: BJP’s Naveen Jindal reaches polling booth on horse to vote

As voting for the single-phase assembly elections in the Indian state of Haryana began on Saturday (Oct 5), prominent industrialist and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Naveen Jindal arrived at a polling booth in Kurukshetra on a horse to cast his vote.

Visuals from the news agency ANI showed Jindal surrounded by people as he arrived at the polling booth. “Sabka apna apna style hai,” (every person has their style -of arriving at the booth) a person from the crowd could be heard saying.

‘Use your vote correctly’

Before casting his vote, Jindal had posted a video on X where he urged voters to definitely vote in the October 5 assembly elections in the state. 

“Every single vote of all of you decides the future of our state. Voting is not only your right but also your responsibility,” Jindal said. “Use your vote correctly, definitely vote and play your important role in building a strong, prosperous and happy Haryana,” he added.

Jindal was earlier a lawmaker of the Congress party and joined the BJP on March 24 this year. He contested as a BJP candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. 

A look at the Kurukshetra district

A total of 43 candidates are contesting elections in Haryana’s Kurukshetra. The district has four assembly segments- Ladwa, Thanesar, Pehowa and Shahabad.

Some of the top contenders in Kurukshetra are current Chief Minister and BJP leader Nayab Singh Saini (contesting from Ladwa), Congress leader Mewa Singh (contesting from Ladwa), Congress candidate Mandeep Chatha (contesting from Pehowa segment), and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Krishan Bajaj (contesting from Thanesar).

More than 773,000 voters are eligible to vote from Kurukshetra.
