Former India speedster Zaheer Khan is likely to be the new mentor and bowling coach of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
As per reports, LSG have approached Zaheer for the dual role of mentor and bowling coach for IPL 2025.
LSG have been without a mentor since Gautam Gambhir left the franchise to reunite with his old team, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024. Subsequently, Gambhir joined the Indian men’s cricket team, as the head coach.
LSG also lost bowling coach Morne Morkel after the end of the 2024 season. Morkel joined Gamhhir’s support staff in the Indian team as the bowling coach.
If the deal between LSG and Zaheer is sealed, the former India placer will play the double role as the mentor and bowling coach in IPL 2025.
Notably, Zaheer was earlier in contention to be the bowling coach of the Indian cricket team. However, Morkel was roped in for the same job following Gambhir’s recommendation.
