Patients suffer as Anandapur Hospital faces complete blackout after power outage
The Anandapur Sub-Divisional Hospital, the lifeline of thousands of people in Keonjhar, plunged into complete darkness after a power cut from midnight, heightening concerns among the patients and their attendants.
The hospital authorities tried to restore the power supply through a generator, but it also turned off due to a lack of fuel. The power outage has impacted crucial medical services leaving patients in distress. Till the last filing of this report, the power supply was yet to be restored.
This has severely affected the delivery of babies in the labour room while doctors are finding it hard to treat patients in the dark. Patients had to bear the brunt of the long-hour power cut with no hope of early restoration.
Patients, especially those on ventilators in the ICU, Emergency, AMC, RICU, and Pediatrics wards, faced severe difficulties following the outage. The lack of fuel stock has made it difficult for the generator to provide electricity to the entire facility.
No comments could be obtained from the hospital authorities on the matter.
