PM Modi to inaugurate and lay foundation stones of various developmental initiatives in Guwahati on Sunday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of various developmental initiatives worth 11,599 crore rupees on Sunday,

informed Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Briefing the media persons in Guwahati on Friday, the Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister will reach Guwahati on Saturday evening for a two-day visit. The PM will attend a BJP core committee meeting on the same evening in Guwahati.


Mr. Sarma informed that the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones of several projects virtually from the public meeting at the Veterinary College Play Ground in Guwahati on Sunday morning. He said that PM will lay the foundation stone for the Maa Kamakhya Access Corridor under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (PM-DevINE) scheme to provide world class amenities to pilgrims visiting the Kamakhya temple and a 6 lane road project connecting Dharapur Tiniali to new terminal building of Guwahati Airport which also includes a flyover.


The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for double laning of 43 roads across the State including 38 bridges, as part of the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Corridor Connectivity under the Asom Mala project with 3444 Crores rupees.


Mr. Sarma informed that Nehru stadium in Guwahati will be upgraded to FIFA standard football stadium to harness the tremendous sports potential of the region. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the project and it will be the biggest sports complex in the entire Eastern India. He also informed that the PM will also lay foundation stone for a multi-sports complex at Chandrapur in Guwahati for the National Games. Mr. Modi will also lay foundation stone for a Unity Mall in Guwahati, added the CM.


To boost the health sector, Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for development of infrastructure of the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital and it will also be the biggest medical facility centre in eastern India, said Mr. Sarma. He further said that the PM will also lay foundation stone for a medical college at Ratabari in Karimganj district.


Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate two 4-laning projects, namely Dolabari to Jamuguri and Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur. These projects will help improve the connectivity to Itanagar and boost the overall economic development of the region.
