Congress takes a swipe at Modi with ‘bael buddhi’ remark on social media

Story highlightsThe post on X carried several one-liners, mocking the PM.Congress has taken a direct dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a social media post after the PM called Rahul Gandhi “balak buddhi” (childlike mind) in the parliament. Congress launched the “bael buddhi” (low acumen) campaign, posting memes targetting Modi and calling him “bael buddhi”.The post on X carried several one-liners, mocking the PM.The post says, “Bael buddhi is one who makes massive unsubstantial claims, one who gets people to fry fritters in the name of employment and talks senseless things.”Congress also used portions of his remarks where Modi claimed to have a photographic memory, but instead used the wrong word – “photogenic”. They ended the montage with a picture of PM Modi.PM Modi repeatedly referred to Rahul as “balak buddhi” in the parliament on July 2, without naming him. “We saw childish behaviour in Lok Sabha yesterday,” PM Modi said in an apparent jibe at Rahul.”Bacche ka mann behlane ka kaam chal rha hai (The Congress is busy pleasing a child these days),” PM Modi had said.He went on to say that Rahul had been crying about being targetted by the government and said the “House saw a person with balak buddhi crying”.PM Modi even narrated a story to mock Congress’ performance in the general election. He said that a “child got 99 marks and was very happy, showing it to everyone. Several people praised him for the marks. Then the teacher told him that he had gotten 99 out of 543, and not 99 out of 100”.The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has not commented on the social media post.(With inputs from agencies)Anamica SinghAnamica Singh started her career as a sports journalist and then moved on to writing on entertainment, news and lifestyle.
