Most airports are operating smoothly on the first day of the REAL ID requirement

Despite the REAL ID requirement taking effect, U.S. airports experienced smooth operations. Travelers without REAL IDs received informational handouts, advising them on future requirements and potential extra screening. With 81 per cent of travelers already REAL ID compliant, airport wait times remained minimal. However, long queues were observed at DMVs as people rushed to obtain compliant IDs.
