Extremadura, an autonomous community bordering Portugal has one of the lowest populations in Spain and is one of the least developed `regions too. Extremadura stands at 17.6 `percent unemployment and has the country’s lowest GDP per capita.The authorities in Extremadura have decided to provide aid to 200 remote workers and digital nomads in their region. A total budget of two million euros has been allocated for this initiative. The digital nomads will also receive financial aid and can enjoy a low cost of living compared to other parts of Spain.According to Numbeo, the Extremadurian city of Badajoz costs on average 30 percent less for meals out, public transport and utilities compared to Madrid, the capital city of Spain.How can you apply for Extremadura’s digital nomad grants?This campaign only concerns European citizens who work in the IT industry or travellers who have obtained a specific digital nomad visa. Those who apply for this grant will have to stick to remote jobs only and live at least 2 years in the city.
